Long Time, No Post

Since I can finally BREATHE again, I thought it might be a good time to get back to the blog. I'm almost recovered from this ridiculous sinus infection/cold that my husband infected me with. Who knew that "in sickness and in health" meant buy a biohazard suit? Oi!

On the bright side, we've added a new member to our family. Meet Gizmo.

We think he is about 12 weeks old, some kinda of lab mix, and more then a little crazy. You can't tell from the picture, but there's a reason we named him for being a Gremlin! So currently we are working on potty-training, and get him to sleep through the night... so I can sleep through the night. :D But at least now he has a home, and Jamie has a little brother he gets to pic on all the time.

Anyone else have furry kids?

15 Questions

Hey all! I'm back from vacation! Got to go home to Maine, visit my family, see one of my little sisters get married, and spend time with my baby nieces. It was SO good (well, except it was FREEZING!)

I wanted to share with you this little 15 questions quiz-a-ma-bob that I got from Paper View, a blog I follow written by Miss Nancy. ( I love this blog! I love seeing the layouts she does, and the personal stories she shares.) Ya'll should take some time to do it too, and leave me your answers!

No matter what mood I'm in, I can always go for: someone playing with my hair. :D
My favorite go-to outfit would have to be: jeans, v-neck and flip-flops.
A good source of inspiration is: listening to my music. And sunny days. If it's a nice sunny day I feel like I can get anything done.
I am so glad my parents taught me: to pick my battles. May have taken me a while to learn, but it's a biggie.
A song I like to dance to is: none. I don't dance. Ever. I look like I'm having full body seizures. Sometimes I'll try to dance when my music is cranked and there's no one around, and then I think that if anyone walked in, I could never explain exactly what was going on. lol
I wish everyone knew about: flies with honey. Rude people suck.
The best thing in my makeup bag is: iridescent purple eye shadow. The most necessary is under-eye concealer. lol Damn you, dark circles!
My dream spring break vacation spot is: anywhere beachy and warm. Hubby and I are trying to plan to go to Puerto Rico in January for a honeymoon (just before our 5 years anniversary.) Better late then never!
This may be a surprise, but I am passionate about: books. Love love LOVE reading.
A favorite book that changed me for the better: This is something most people don't know, but one of my FAVORITE books is Lord of the Flies. Idk if anything I have read has really changed me so much as gives me things to think about.
One of my pet peeves is: People who lie and believe their own lies.
My favorite daily ritual would have to be: Cuddle time with my pup. LOVE him!
I am trying to be better at: the whole 'housewife' things. ...Dishes. Ick.
The most recent rad thing I found online was: I love http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/ . Not so much a recent sight, but I love it!
I can't live without: my craft supplies. I gotta keep crafty to be happy! :D

Vacation!

Hey all! So here's the deal. I'm going HOME! I won't be back until next Wednesday. And due to the CRAPTACULAR interent in the back woods of Maine, I'm not going to even TRY to post on here. So ya'll just sit tight and enjoy your week, and I will see you on the other side!

(If it makes you feel any better, I board the plane in 87 degree weather today, and land at 27. That's inhumane.)

Snapshot Sunday: Surprises

So when you buy a new house, you expect surprises. Both toilets breaking- Surprise! Spending $600 on termite treatment- Surprise! Finding out you have a neighbor who likes to blast the base at 6am- Surprise!

But sometimes there are good surprises, too. Now that the weather is warming up all sorts of little things are popping up around the house (besides the termites).

Having moved from the far north to the south last July, I had no idea what most of the plants are down here. I was so surprised to see everything growing flowers on it! Had to run outside between the random showers to snap a few shots!

Fave Friday!

I wanted to share with ya'll a layout I did using one of my FAVORITE pictures I've taken. The model is my cousin, Natalie, and I don't know what it is about this picture, but I love love LOVE it!

I'm not sure how well the photo shows it, but I used iridescent acrylic medium, and coarse texture gel to get a really nice texture to the swirl/shell shape I painted in white. The gel reminds me of gritty sand and I couldn't resist. The "One Special Day" sticker is from My Mind's Eye's Stella Rose collection, the Mabel Love Label Stickers. The wedges of teal glittery paper are from my DCVW Doodlin' Around stack. Love that paper!

Isn't this the sweetest picture? To me it is iconic of childhood and the wonder and amazement at the littlest things. Love it!

I also want to add that:
A) Acrylic is by far my favorite painting material.
B) Teal and Brown is one of my favorite color combinations.
C) Flowers and brads are my favorite embellishments... and pearls... and rhinestones... and tags... and ribbon... oh never mind.

So there- you got a few of my favorite things out of me today anyway!
Enjoy you weekend everyone- it'll be in the mid 80's for me so I know I sure will!

Holy Tags, Batman!

So I've been waiting with a little patience and a LOT of excitment for my shipment from Two Peas to come in (recommended by Miss Nancy to me) ...AND IT JUST DID!!! Woot! Now, I got some loose paper, and two 6x6 pads, Fine and Dandy True Blue by My Mind's Eye and Spotted Owl Soup by Jillibean Soup because I happen to be a sucker for owl thing-a-ma-bobs. But I am super excited about the tags. Did I say tags? I meant TAGS!

Things in my craft room are about to get very scary!

Also, I was at JoAnn's yesterday and couldn't resist picking up this little sucker that was only $9.99!  I love paper stacks from DCWV and this one was super cutesy! I couldn't resist!

I love that this stack has pages for all year round! Here are a few of my favorites!

So if you don't here from me in a few days... well, don't send out the search party. I'll just be buried up to my eyeballs in scraps of paper in my craft room.

Man's Best Friend

I wanted to share a layout I did this week with ya'll. I LOVE this picture of my husband and our pup, James.

The papers are some Colorbok I have lying around, the die-cuts and denim border are K&Company, and the flowers are a mix of some Prima and others I had. The "best" is also a K&Company products, while the "mans friend" letters come from a Colorbok book. I also smudged the edges with some gold stamping ink and did some 'stitching' with a gold marker. I wanted to play with mixing different patterns and colors, and definitly had to use some foam in there to make things POP.

This was a fun layout to make, especially since it was for 'my boys'. What do you think? What do you love scrapping about?

It's Fave Friday, Ya'll!

It's time to list some of my favorites of the week, and I have to say that I'm thinking my favorite ITEM of the week was Mucinex! Yep, that's what happens when the weather swings from 80 degrees to 50 and downpours. I'm officially read for SPRING to get here!

Currently, I'm reading The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson, and though I haven't finished it yet, it's definitely my favorite of the trio of books! Makes me wanna learn more about Sweden so I understand the books a bit better. Well... not really. Sorry, Sweden.

My dog, James, is my FAVORITE animal in the world. Sorry, other animals, but you can't compete with the Jamester and his antics. Like trying to eat my camera when he's decided the photo shoot is over.

My favorite American Idol (you knew it was coming)? Eeek, it's a tie between Casey Abrahms and Paul McDonald. I love that both are so unique, and definitely spice up the show. Paul has an A-MAZ-ING voice, and Casey is spooky-good at performing. This season has got my attention! (These photos are from americanidol.com and belong to them!)

And that's really all I've got for ya today! Stay tuned as I try to give this blog a little bit more TLC!

Snapshot Sunday: Taking it Easy

Oi. It has been one of THOSE weeks. Started with houseguests and ended with the flu. Now the hubby is starting to feel icky, too. So we are just taking it easy, and trying to recover.

Snapshot Sunday: At the Flea Market

Hey all! Thanks for stopping by for Snapshot Sunday. It is a GORGEOUS 80+ degrees out today, and I have decided this is how February SHOULD BE!!! So today was spent in the great out-of-doors at the flea market with Verna, TRYING to sell some of my jewelry.

Behold, our spread!

Also know that even though someone is your partner in crime, they may try to sabotage your jewelry sales by hiding your side of the table.... I'm onto you, Verna.

First Favorites Friday!

Are you excited? I am.
So, here are a few of my favorite things:

1. Mumford & Sons and their album "Sigh No More" is keeping me feeling crafty right now. I am really jiving on Little Lion men and The Cave right now. Find it HERE

2. In case you had not noticed, I'm bringing 'jiving' back. I'm sorry, but it has to be done.

3. I love all things K&Company. They make some of my favorite embellishments for scrapbooking. I love using the Flora & Fauna Collection by Brenda Walton- especially the adhesive borders! Way to make life easy for me, you guys!

4. Inside jokes with old friends. I love being able to refer to old experiences, or say one word, and the other person get's it. Especially when it sends that person into hysterics. :D

5. The weather. Ummm... can we say they 75 degrees in February is A-MAZ-ING! Being from Maine, this is unnatural, and I am 100% OK with that!

Welp, thanks for checking in with me, and I hope you'll come back soon for Snapshot Sunday...or something like that!

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Here, I will endeavor to bring you little tidbits of, well, EVERYTHING. My hobbies are Scrapbooking and creating Beaded Jewelry, so there will be a bit of THAT. And I'll probably try to fit in Favorites Friday, maybe a Snapshot Sunday, a Music Monday? Who knows? Not me... I'm winging it. So stay tuned and look forward to learning with me!
